Sophie Vanpée holds a degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the École polytechnique de Louvain, with specializations in Mechanics of Materials and Polymers and Macromolecules.
She completed her PhD at UCLouvain through an Innoviris Brussels-funded project conducted in collaboration with Syensqo. Her research focused on the micromechanics of the semi-crystalline matrix in the inter-fiber regions of thermoplastic composites.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at 4MAT, Université libre de Bruxelles, where she is involved in two Innoviris Brussels-funded projects. The COMPOST project investigates the mechanical recycling of thermoplastic composite overmoulded production scraps into new components and is carried out in collaboration with BATir, VUB, UCLouvain, and Syensqo. The HyFUEL project focuses on the development of eco-friendly and lightweight thermoplastic hydrogen tanks and is conducted in collaboration with BATir, VUB, and Syensqo.
